Update your graphic card drivers and see if that helps... also make sure you have the latest version of DirectX.
If it doesn't help try reinstalling windows.
If that doesn't help its most likely some hardware that's starting to fail.

IF you ever have that error again, just do what tatari says. Personally i have had it happen many times, and 9/10 times its my drivers that are out of date.

well Tatari, you're a bit our handyman in these things
any clue on what's causing my headset to go bazur in teamspeak, the talkstream becomes either very high or very low. yet it only starts doing this when I'm on longer then a few houres on teamspeak.
in the beginning everything works normal.

already searched for the latest drivers and installed them. last I thought an extra driver from creative solved it. but it still happend a few days back. It's a usb creative fatility gaming headset.
could it be caused due i'm asking 2 different sound outputs on 1 soundcard at the same time ? headset for ts and surround speakers for the game

cheers.

Sounds like a driver / buffer overflow issue.
So the headset is connected via USB and you still have a normal onboard/pci(-e) soundcard for the normal audio?
If that's the case it shouldn't be a problem cuz that's how I'm running it cheep usb-headset for ts :)
But if it is all powered by the same sounddevice than its prolly why you have this issue.
